Facing the facts here, the trodden days of basic cable where you could easily flip channels to the music TV stations and watch music videos galore are long since passed. It makes me think why bands even waste their time creating music videos anymore when stations like MTV and VH1 only air them at 3am when nobody is watching. Instead these stations have swapped music videos for lame reality TV shows that nobody really cares about—and they still have the audacity to call themselves Music TV?? Well the new MTV is actually Youtube.com—where users can freely log in and watch all the music videos they want. A place where bands are now uploading and broadcasting all of their music videos because they get millions of plays a month here—and they get virtually no airtime on the music TV stations, and they do not have to pay Youtube to air their music videos. It is kind of sad in a sense to see the downfall of these music TV stations. However, I would much rather log on to Youtube and watch free music videos than ever have to sit through another target market commercial again.
