One writer is longing for the excitement of the American alternative rock scene in his home country of the UK.

UK writer Rob Morgan says, "The Americans have a vibrant, original alternative rock music scene that doesn't exist in this country.  There is a proper sustainable mainstream alternative rock over there in The Shins and Modest Mouse, Spoon, Death Cab For Cutie, Bright Eyes and Rilo Kiley."

He goes on to say that these alternative rock bands are bigger than merely cult bands and they amount to a coherent and credible scene with a following.  Do you agree?  Let us know.
